Inquest into Connors worker Christopher Nicholls delivers verdict
AN OPEN verdict has been recorded after the inquest into the death of former Connors worker Christopher Nicholls this afternoon.
The body of the 41-year-old father-of-two was found in a dilapidated shed at the bottom of a garden in Staverton.
His skeleton was all that remained of the former Connors family hawker who was forced to work for little pay before he was hit by a van in 2004 in Staverton.
An alcoholic, with a history of anxiety and depression, Christopher was never the same after the accident when he sustained a fractured skull and broken ribs.

Considered surplus to requirements by the Connors, who in December were convicted of forced labour charges and sentenced for a total of 18 years, Christopher was sent off with just £50 in his pocket to fend for himself.
His benefit book had been confiscated when he arrived at the Connors door in 2000.
At Gloucestershire coroner's court, deputy coroner David Dooley said: "Christopher made his own way to the shed, but how and when he arrived there can not be ascertained.
"Sufficient evidence could not be gathered due to the decomposition of his body. There can be no substantive verdict but a conclusion of an open verdict."
