FORWARD James Norwood has signed a new long-term contract at Forest Green.

Rovers' joint top scorer this season with 11 goals, the former Exeter City man has penned a deal that runs until the end of the 2014/15 campaign.

The 22-year-old had been due to become a free agent this summer, but he can now focus all his attentions on a Blue Square Bet Premier promotion

mission that continues with the visit of Braintree Town to the New Lawn tomorrow evening.

Norwood first shot to prominence at Eastbourne Town, from where he was snapped up by Exeter in July 2009.

He made his Exeter debut as a second half substitute on the opening day of the 2009-10 season as a 19-year-old in front of just under 30,000 fans at Leeds United's Elland Road Stadium, and then joined Sutton United in a shor-term loan move.

His first spell at Forest Green, a loan move in August 2010, introduced him to the Rovers faithful for the first time where he caught the eye with his pace and skills and he also spent time on loan at hometown club Eastbourne Borough.

Norwood was released by Exeter at the end of the 2010-11 season and Rovers instantly secured his signature, and an impressive season at the New Lawn saw him sign a contract extension.

He has also represented the England Schools Under-18s squad, scoring against France at Wembley Stadium in a 4-2 defeat.
