Jazz, poetry mix in Klezmatrix
JAZZ and poetry combine on Friday for a performance by the William Blake Klezmatrix in Slimbridge's St John the Evangelist Church.
It features poet Michael Horovitz, Britain's finest jazz trombonist Annie Whitehead and sublime pianist Peter Lemer.
Horovitz, pictured, is a jazz troubadour, anglo-saxophonist and Britain's last beat poet. He has toured the country alongside the likes of Carol Ann Duffy, Damon Albarn, John Cage and Benjamin Zephaniah.
Whitehead has played with the Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Jazz Jamaica Allstars and Robert Wyatt. Lemer has been collaborating with Horovitz since the 1960s, one of a rotating troupe of pianists whose number has included Dudley Moore and Stan Tracey.
