GLOUCESTER'S jobless are being given their best chance yet to pick up the skills needed for getting back into work.

A jobs fair being held in the city tomorrow aims to boost the confidence of unemployed people by getting them to sit at the same table as their prospective future employers.

The "jobs fair with a difference" is being run by Gloucester MP Richard Graham and the Gloucester SkillZONE service.

There'll be advice on hand about preparing your CV, different careers and how to be more competitive.

Mr Graham said: "I believe that while the employment trend of the past few months has been encouraging, there are still a lot of young constituents without a job or a plan to get one. This fair offers a chance to hear about how to prepare yourself and your CV for opportunities that may shape your life."

The MP, who has run six job fairs so far, will chair a discussion on "how to make an employer notice you" with Job Centre Plus, Laithwaites Wine, Glevum Security and the NHS.

There are 28 local employers to match job seekers to opportunities and sessions on improving CVs from the new National Careers Service, interview tips and help with online job searching – useful skills for anyone looking for work.

Job Centre Plus will also be launching their new initiative, the Universal Jobmatch, which is a new, free, online job posting and matching service for companies.

The SkillZONE jobs fair takes place from 1.30pm to 4.30pm tomorrow at the Gloucestershire SkillZONE in Tuffley Lane.
