The tooth fetched £19,000 at an auction and was bought by Michael Zuk, a dentist and collector of celebrity teeth. He also owns one of Elvis Presley's crowns.
The tooth had been in the family of Lennon's former housekeeper Dot Jarlett, after it was give to her to dispose of sometime between 1964 and 1968.

Ms Jarlett suggested keeping the tooth to give to her daughter, who was a big Beatles fan. It was recently sold to pay for a family member's operation and part of it has since been turned into a DNA necklace made by Beverly Hills jewellery designer Ari Soffer.

“Imagine an entire world living in peace… John saw the beauty and inherent good in humanity. I tried to do his legacy justice and channel his world-embracing and loving energy this week with a tribute portrait inspired by his music and his passion for changing the world. You can see this new work of art in memoriam on my artist's blog at http://tinyurl.com/c3tb5zv along with some pictures showing how I created it. See John holding the Universe in his hand and spreading his message. When you stop by, let me know how his words and music have affected your life and creativity!”

“Nice one TiG :-) You seem to have ignored one of the basic tenets of journalism in this case the "why" in "who, what, when, where, why".
So, to fill in the gap (pardon the pun):
Q: Why is John Lennon's tooth coming to Bishops Cleeve?
A: It's because it is being taken on a tour of UK dental surgeries to raise awareness of oral cancer http://tinyurl.com/afm5pwx”

“Nice one Bonkim! Some years ago I came across a woman (married, middle aged with a couple of kids) who had an extensive SHRINE to Cliff Richard in her house and the guy isn't even dead!”

“Just goes to show human beings are the same throughout the centuries. Body-parts of medieval saints were carried around in reliquaries by the faithful to ward of evil spirits or the Plague. Hope the tooth is returned to Mr Lennon when he is resurrected.”
