Keith the River Severn seal to visit Gloucester?
COULD Keith the seal be about to ravage Gloucester's waterways?
Despite being 50 miles from home, the female seal which has affectionately been given a man's name by residents, is most certainly not a fish out of water in the River Severn.
She has been spotted on numerous occasions, most recently in Worcester, feeding on the fish there and the Angling Trust even tried to obtain a licence to shoot her but withdrew the application.
It is now thought that she could be about to move on into the watercourses of Gloucester.

Richard Mander, from Gloucester Angling Club, said: "We have got extremely well stocked rivers here, one seal wouldn't cause any problems at all.
"There are much bigger issues to worry about. We don't fear the arrival of Keith."

“Totally with you there @JBNTS and yes its really great to see the Angling Club taking such a thoroughly decent approach to this. Angling Trust on the other hand are still on most peoples , most hated list.”

“Good to see a pragmatic attitude on the part of Gloucester Angling Club anyway. Maybe lessons have been learned from the Angling Trust PR disaster which probably achieved for Anglers what a celebrity endorsement by Pol Pot might have done......”

“Notice the first line, what a idiot. "COULD Keith the seal be about to ravage Gloucester's waterways" Ravage???? she's one little seal for god sake - Fishermen take far more fish than one seal.(And i am not having a go at fishermen) Angling trust has totally backed down with its tail between its legs now. Good, People power won over the Angling trust and Keith is safe for now. Although i would love to know the name of the person who actually suggested Keith was shot. Anyone any ideas??”
