Ken Livingstone says Javelin Park incinerator will be "disastrous"
FORMER mayor of London Ken Livingstone spoke out against an incinerator being built in the county at a lunch yesterday.
Ken Livingstone was at the Stonehouse community centre to speak to members of the Stroud Constituency Labour Party at their Christmas lunch.
More than 50 people turned up to talk politics, economics and the Leveson Inquiry with the outspoken Mr Livingstone. He was flanked by a panel including David Drew, former MP for Stroud, and Baroness Janet Royall, the current leader of the opposition in the House of Lords.
Speaking about the Javelin Park incinerator, Mr Livingstone said: "We have too much landfill, which is disgraceful, but an incinerator will cause the same amount of pollution as a power station. We have other methods, such as anaerobic digestion, which will leave us without the disastrous emissions from an incinerator."
