Kirby refuses to be blown off course to take prize
DESPITE the strong wind and the rain-affected course home player Jamie Kirby shot a gross 75 (nett 69) to take the boys best gross prize in the Lilley Brook Junior Open.
Claudia Ovens from Cotswold Hills was also undaunted by the conditions taking the girls best gross prize with a score of 83 (nett 71).
The event was a qualifier for the Daily Telegraph Junior Championship and Jamie and Claudia's scores will feature on the Daily Telegraph's leaderboard.
The nett competition was in handicap groups and the prizes went to Rodway Hill's Alex Ireland (net 74, gross 83) and home players Matt Bell (net 69, gross 83) and Will Donlan (net 67, gross 93). Rachel Evill from Minchinhampton Old Course won the Girls Best Nett award with scores of net 80, gross 95.
