SHAUN Knight will have to bide his time for his England Saxons debut.

A sore knee has ruled him out of tonight’s clash with Irish Wolfhounds in Galway (kick-off 7.35pm).

Leicester’s front-rower Kieran Brookes steps onto the bench in place of Knight, with Gloucester’s Nick Wood still starting at loosehead prop.

Matson-born 22-year-old tighthead Knight has progressed at a rate of knots in the last two years at Gloucester, and is now battling Rupert Harden for the number three shirt.

“Let's face the reality, Rupert Harden is an utterly brilliant tight head and Nigel Davies knows it, hence 9 Premiership starts in the first half of the season up until his injury. Let's hope he is fit to play in the crucial Premiership game against Saints.”

“I hope Harden is back soon. The scrum struggles without him.”

“We need to have Harden fit and playing. Without him dominating in the scrum against the best the opposition has to offer, we will struggle in the games to come.”

“As has been said, we must get Harden back as soon as possible if we are to maintain our strong scrum and keep us on track for a successful season.”

“Of the Premiership games so far this season, Harden has started nine. Nigel Davies, the chap who earns his money from knowing what is what when it comes to rugby union, certainly knows which of his tight-head props is his first choice.”

“Rupert needs to be available for the vital Premiership games. He is undoubtedly Gloucester Rugby's best tight head.”

“Rupert Harden rules in the tight head position and dominates in the scrum. Let's hope he is fit for CRUCIAL Premiership game against Saints. We don't want our scrum going backwards, like it has over the past few weeks.”

“Rupert Harden would certainly have done a fantastic job against Mont de Marsan in the series of scrums where we attempted to push the their scrum over their try line. Even with a man down with one of their props in the sin bin, the inevitable happened and they won that battle. It would never have turned out that way if our best and most skilful tight head, Rupert harden, had been on the field of play.”
