EXMOUTH 12 CONEY HILL 23

CONEY Hill earned their fourth away win of the season but left it late.

Hill were ahead after only 40 seconds when Exmouth dropped the kick-off and from the scrum Sid King and Michael Hagan combined to put winger Jamie Cole in.

The conversion was missed but the start was just the one the eager visitors sought.

Home full-back Richard Cadywould missed a penalty shot before succeeding with his second attempt.

Coney Hill fly-half Rory Baker nullified this with a penalty of his own.

Cadywould reduced the arrears to two points with a second penalty and just afterwards Coney Hill flanker Jack Robson was sin-binned.

Exmouth were left with just a third penalty by Cadywould and a one-point lead to show for their numerical advantage.

A second Coney Hill sin-binning, for scrum-half Michael Hagan, seemed to spell trouble and with 15 minutes left Cadywould's fourth penalty gave Exmouth a four-point lead.

Baker reduced the deficit to a point and Hill went in front when Danny Davis played in Cole for a try.

Straight from kick-off Robson stormed forward.

Quickly recycled ball fell to Davis and he again chipped ahead but this time he collected his own kick to score a dramatic try with Baker converting to complete a stunning victory.

Coney Hill: Davis; Knight (Carr 61), Whelan, Overthrow, Cole; Baker, Hagan; Smith, Bozzard, Corriea (Preen 50); Cooper, Rimmer; Robson, Ballinger, King (Carroll 67).

Star Man: Danny Davis (Coney Hill)
