Legends celebrate Gloucester Rugby heritage
More than 150 Gloucester Rugby legends were back at Kingsholm on Saturday to mark the opening of the new Heritage Project.
Memorabilia including old photos, match cards, tickets and promotional posters now lines the walls at Kingsholm documenting the club's history from the late 1800s to the present day.
-

Charge: Action from the match between the Cherry Pickers XV and the Junior Paramore XV.
-

ALL SMILES: Junior Paramore takes part in the parade.
-

Clever pass: Tim Smith feeds out to his team mates.
-

Star faces: Some of the legends who made an appearance including Junior Paramore, Terry Fanolua and Trevor Woodman.
-

Guests at the event included heroes from recent times like Terry Fanolua to 97-year-old Reverend William Phillips, who first donned the red and white hoops in 1936.
He said: "I think the main reason I am remembered is that I was one of three clergymen playing for Gloucester at the time."
Former fans' favourite Terry Fanolua, who joined Gloucester in 1997 as one of the first overseas players in the Premiership and spent nine years at the club, was back at Kingsholm for the first time in 18 months.
He said: "It's great to see the new facilities, it looks fantastic.
"I feel really honoured to be back and to be associated with this club."
Cedric McMillan, from Northumberland, was at the event with his son Angus to donate two caps from the 1870s to the exhibition that belonged to his great grandfather J W Bayley.
He said: "One of the caps is a Gloucester one while the other is a county one. They have been passed down through my family."
Malcolm King, chairman of the heritage project, said: "It really is amazing that all these blokes are here when it is they who have shaped the club.
"It is really great to see so many of them all together."
● A Junior Paramore XV beat the Cherry Pickers – made up of former Gloucester players – 24-22 on Saturday.
The teams played a 20 minutes-each-way match after the Guinness Premiership clash between Gloucester and Newcastle.
The match was raising money for the Samoan Tsunami Appeal.
Junior Paramore, a former Kingsholm number eight, had family caught up in the disaster, as did current Gloucester centre Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu.

or should that be Boring, Hucclecote.
It makes no business sense to give away all the information for free, after all the citizen has to make money from selling the papers it does. If it didnt make money thisisgloucestershire.co.uk wouldnt exist at all”
