Chris Coleman has trounced the opposition in his bid to be a Springbank councillor in Cheltenham

The Liberal Democrat candidate got 722 votes in the political contest which saw residents turn out to polling stations last night.

The by-election was held to fill the vacancy in Cheltenham Borough Council left by the death of John Morris earlier this year.

Labour candidate Clive Harriss got 142 votes and Tory hope Mireille Weller received 188.
