My Life in Gloucestershire: David Purchase, owner of the On Toast cafes
What's your favourite Gloucestershire day out?
Although I live and operate my business from there, it has to be Gloucester Docks.
And your favourite place to eat out in the county?
On Toast? I am a chipaholic, so it's either a chip supper from Dykes fish shop off Stroud Road or The Black and White Fish and Chip shop at Longsmith Street.

What's the worst job you've ever had?
I have had a variety of jobs, all of which have played a part in my life's experience.
Have you got any unusual habits?
Ironing my sheets, pillow cases and quilt cover. I can't rest unless they are done and it takes an age.
Who is your hero and why?
My Dad Jim, who at 86 is the main carer to my 84 year old mother, who has dementia. He is a patient and loving husband and father.
What book are you reading at the moment or tell us your favourite?
My favourite – John O Farrell's 'Things can only get better', it is so funny for those who have been active in the Labour Party.
What was the last film you watched?
My best friend paid for me to see Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 in 3D with him, I was shocked it wasn't shortlisted for an Oscar nomination!
First single/record you ever bought?
Puckwudgie sang by Charlie Drake.
Facebook or Twitter? (And what is your twitter handle/name?)
Facebook although it's linked to Twitter @ontoastbar

“So, what's the worst job you've ever had, David? Just answer the question. All that politics has rubbed off on you.”
