What's your favourite Gloucestershire day out?

And your favourite place to eat out in the county?
Either the Africa Experience in Kingsholm or Aroma in Southgate Street.

What's the worst job you've ever had?
Doing food deliveries in a lorry at university. I could only reach the pedals by standing up, the elephant-ear-like wing mirrors got snapped off in the first narrow Oxford back street, and it was quite testing driving without them.
Have you got any unusual habits?
The thing is my habits are usual to me. I love (hot) porridge and (cold) baked beans at any time of day. My socks often have holes and sometimes don't match. I hate throwing away clothes or shoes so still have plenty from thirty years ago.
Who is your hero and why?
As a boy my heroes were Gloucestershire and Warwickshire cricketers like Proctor and Kallicharan.
What book are you reading at the moment or tell us your favourite?
History of Jerusalem by Simon Sebag Montefiore.
What was the last film you watched?
Most Excellent Marigold Hotel.
First single/record you ever bought?
A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harum.
Facebook or Twitter?
Neither! Far too much human time is wasted recording absolute rubbish.

“Dear ladybugs
What a sad day it will be when you take over the press and bring your personality - devoid of any interest in humour, personal interest, local or social say so, etc etc.... to these pages.”

“I think you are all being unduly harsh on Richard. Although it would be good to see him make his physical presence more apparent in and around Gloucester, he usually is quite prompt replying back to email communications, and seems like a nice enough guy.”

“Maurice - I think you must have eyesight issues, Mr Graham is always at Kingsholm standing on the terrace. He stands right next to my wife and I.
I also agree with him about twitter, although I enjoy sharing photos on Facebook.”

“Give the guy a break, he's been asked a question, and he's answered it, what was he meant to say 'ferk off'?
As a twice daily walker on the beacon at Painswick, I can concur that standing on the trig point, overlooking the Severn, it is very often sunny and blustery. That is due to topography of the escarpment and surrounding features.
As to Farcebook and Tvvatter, I agree even more.
As I've said, I either;
email, 'oh, that's so last century, darling',
telephone..... 'WHAT, you mean you ACTUALLY speak to someone on your mobile?'
or, and this is REALLY hilarious, I actually get a piece of paper, and use something called a PEN, and I actually, LOL, make shapes that look like words....... I then put it in an EN-VE-LOPE, and stick a funny little sticker on it, and put it in a red box, no, not a dog sh!t bin, usually by the Post Office...........and guess what, I don't get moronic idiots, who I have never met, judging me or making obscene remarks.
It's brill.................LMAO.”

“..and there I was thinking that TiG was just struggling to find stories on just one day when they printed My Life in Gloucestershire: Big cat tracker Frank Tunbridge. :((
..and now we have this piece and another equally ridiculous answer to a question:-
What's your favourite Gloucestershire day out?
A walk with the family to the top of Painswick Beacon in blustery sunshine and long views into the sunset over Gloucester and to the Malvern Hills.
Perhaps somebody could enighten us as to what "blustery sunshine is" I have heard of blustery wind on a sunny day and I have heard of blustery rain but never blustery sunshine.
• BLUSTERY (adjective)
The adjective BLUSTERY has 2 senses:
1. blowing in violent and abrupt bursts
2. noisily domineering; tending to browbeat others”
