What's the best thing about Tewkesbury?

The young people of Tewkesbury. They are talented, caring and responsible.

Sadly, in all areas of the UK, the public actions of a small minority can taint people's perceptions of the youth of today.

While I have lived in Gloucestershire for over 20 years, I became head at Tewkesbury in January 2012 on the same day that the school became an academy.

What's your favourite Gloucestershire day out?

An afternoon watching rugby at Kingsholm with family and a pint.

And where is your favourite place to dine out within Gloucestershire?

It is difficult to single out only one. If pushed, I would probably go for the Queen's Arms at Ashleworth or Gianni's Italian in Cheltenham.

What's the worst job you've ever had?

It would be a close call between putting sale stickers on mail order catalogues all day every day or delivering copies of Yellow Pages to houses in remote locations in Worcestershire in a 'clapped out' Ford Escort MkII.

Have you got any unusual habits?

None that I am prepared to own up to.

Who is your hero and why?

My primary school teacher, Derek Walton, who introduced me to competitive sport and the great outdoors. He was an inspirational role model and shaped my life from an early age.

What was the last film you watched?

Les Miserables, which happens to be my favourite musical too.

First single/record you ever bought?

Blondie's Heart of Glass or possibly Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody.
