Lincoln tops the bill in stellar line-up
IF you are sick of the snow but determined to get out of the house then a trip to the cinema could be the ticket for you.
No less than three major films are set for release today, with a Steven Spielberg epic leading the bill.
Lincoln focuses on the political manoeuvrings of the 16th US President, Abraham Lincoln as he bids to have the constitution amended to prohibit slavery in 1865.
At a time when multiculturalism is trotted out ad nauseum by politicians as modern society's badge of honour, Lincoln is a stark reminder of the sins of the past and how far we still have to go to create a world of true equality.

Tony Kushner's eloquent script condenses the final months of the president's life into an elegiac portrait of a husband and father whose courage in the eye of a political storm tested his resolve and his marriage.
The ebb and flow of dialogue is exquisite, and potentially dense and baffling philosophies are distilled into digestible exposition so it's easy to follow the cut and thrust of arguments on both sides of the political divide.
The film has already won over critics with 12 Oscar nominations and is also leading the pack for this year's Academy Awards.
Daniel Day-Lewis who adopts the lead role of Uncle Abe, is hotly-tipped for a best actor accolade having already received a Golden Globe for his portrayal.
Lincoln is a magnificent technical achievement, distinguished by Janusz Kaminski's colour-bleached cinematography and John Williams's haunting score.
It's not the only blockbuster out next week though, with gritty Zero Dark Thirty hitting our screens too.
The film reunites the Oscar-winning team of director-producer Kathryn Bigelow and writer-producer Mark Boal for the story of the decade-long hunt for Al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden after the September 2001 attacks.
If that seems a bit too heavy-going then check out comedy Movie 43 with its stellar cast and 12 different storylines.
Among the stars include Halle Berry, Kate Winslet, Richard Gere and Hugh Jackman.
All three films are released today.
