Lockey impresses as he makes an emotional return
MORETON-in-Marsh sidecar driver Wayne Lockey achieved a fine result in the Southern 100 meeting at the 4.25 mile Billown circuit near Castletown on the Isle of Man.
It was an emotional return to the circuit for Lockey, who had not competed at the meeting since the death of his friend Phil Dongworth in 2009, and he had to do so without his usual passenger Owen Clements who was unavailable. Clements' berth was filled by experienced passenger Wiltshireman Kenny Coles.
The first of two practice sessions proved eventful, firstly being red flagged after an incident and then followed by an oil spill.
The second practice was drama free and Lockey and Coles qualified in fourth spot.
