Lorry driver is rescued after being taken ill
A LORRY driver is fighting for his life in hospital after being taken ill in his cab.
The man sparked a medical emergency at 12.46am yesterday at the transport yard in Driffield Road, Cirencester.
Great Western Ambulance Service called out Cirencester firefighters, who worked with the Special Incident Support Unit to safely remove the driver, who works for hauliers Wincanton.
Cirencester firefighting crew commander Dave Coulling said: "The ambulance specialist heart team was also called."

It is believed that the man, who has not been identified, suffered a neurological problem.
One witness said: "He'd been stationary for a while and his tracking device had alerted the depot which sent another driver, who called the ambulance. A platform was raised to the cab and he was rescued."
