“Looks like I should apologise to some people for my earlier comment; sorry, but I didn't realise this was an irony-free zone.”

“by SJP1985....................firstly may I say I hope the lad is recovering as well as can be expected.
For people to start on about Bristol Road as opposed to any other, is ridiculous.
It's a major route in and out. There are many businesses, that have large lorries delivering to and from. There is a mixture of homes, old and new. In short, it's just plain busy.
This hasn't happened overnight, nor have residents been beamed in suddenly. No, people here know the road and how busy it is.
What has changed almost overnight is the attitudes of people. Not just the young. I see old people driving using mobiles, speeding, spanning the speed cushions etc, and they should know better. Also, so many children walk along seemingly looking at the ground, but in fact are texting.
I'm sure they also think life is like a video game, where seconds after a huge crash, vehicles right themselves, and carry on, like nothing has happened.
Just one small point. Why was the road closed for five and a half hours?”

“"Lorry hits boy - road now re-open" rather misses the point, doesn't it? I mean, how's the lorry? We should be told.”

“Listen, i dont know the facts with this incident. But i will say i've been using that part of bristol road now as part of my daily commute for a year. People (mostly kids) really are not careful enough when crossing this road. You can blame roadside parking, and driver visibility all you want - but the fact is there is alot of arrogance from younger pedestrians who expect the traffic to make way for them. i think ive pressed my car horn no less than 3 times in cases of young adults bombing and weaving in and out of traffic on push bikes just past lidl's since ive been taking that route, but its not just localized there. more and more im seeing parents around the tuffley area up by crypt racily dragging kids and pushchairs in between flowing traffic on the main roads and it is incredibly reckless. THERE ARE SO MANY CROSSINGS, IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WHY PEOPLE ARE NOT USING THEM. it's laziness, carelessness from a variety of parties. yes drivers need to be more aware and keep their speed down, but they're fighting a losing battle if such ignorance for road safety carrys on.”

“I hate Bristol road, too much traffic and you always need eyes in the back of your head when crossing the road, Hope he's ok . The council needs to look at improvements, make the pavements wider and remove the roadside parking would help pedestrian and drivers visibility.”

“I highly doubt he threw himself under a lorry. It was an accident. You shouldn't comment rumours because claiming he was trying to kill himself will really hurt his family.”
