Love Food. Hate Waste. Save Those In Need.
Every year, supermarkets waste, on average, 300,000 tonnes of food - this is equivalent to the weight of 50,000 grown male elephants.
Every year, roughly, 15 million children die of hunger.
Something NEEDS to be done to prevent the amount of food being wasted on a daily basis by supermarkets. Supermarkets waste food which they believe will not sell as well due to the way it looks – in particular the 'wonky carrot'.
This food, no matter how 'bad' it looks, would be much appreciated by charities which help fund the feeding of children in undeveloped countries who are dying on a daily basis due to starvation.

For supermarkets to send their waste food to landfill sites, it not only wastes good food, but it also adds to the amount of land that is being taken over by human waste. This land, if the food was shipped to those in need, could be used as area for agriculture, or even for building new houses. It could even be used as new forest land, to replace the trees that have been cut down by deforestation.
Supermarket waste needs to be cut down, we could save so many lives using the food that is thrown away days before it will actually go off.
