Luke Narraway column
THERE were no surprises from Argentina in the first game of the tour. We expected them to come out aggressively and that's exactly what they did.
We knew from the reputation their first team has they would come at us in the forwards, particularly at the breakdowns, and we did OK in countering that.
In terms of our performance, we weren't that thrilled with it. It was a win, but with the talent we have out here we know it has to be better. When you have a group of guys going out there who have only been together for a week it's going to be disjointed.
The feeling around the camp is that the longer we are together, the better we will get. There are enough big names here to really do some damage if it clicks. As players, it's our job to buy into the gameplan, get singing from the same hymn sheet and then the rugby will come from that.
We want to get our phases together – that was missing from the Argentina game and is what we are targeting this weekend against the USA.
Although we have been working hard, there have been a few more chances to get about and see Denver.
Saying that, the only sun we've had was on the game day, which was probably when we wanted it least.
We are a mile above sea level here, too, so we were gasping a bit in the first game.
A few of the lads have been to the cinema and we've had the chance to get out into the shops, too. There hasn't been much opportunity for a few beers yet, but I'm sure that will come once the rugby is over.
At the moment, we are all focused on the job in hand, although I have heard there are plans to get out and do some line dancing one night!
We also managed to get out and do some white water rafting the other day, which was excellent fun.
I don't think the guides had ever had a group like us. It was more like pirates – the focus on dragging people in or stealing their oars and generally trying to sink their boat!
The water was pretty deep, so there wasn't much chance of getting injured.
I've managed to catch a bit of the Lions so far. I watched them against the Golden Lions and it was good to see them rack up a few points.
I'm sure they are getting closer to what their first team will be at the moment and I wish the whole squad, the England lads in particular, all the best for the Tests. It would be great to see them get a victory.
I'm afraid the Americans aren't that interested in the Lions. They have the Stanley Cup (ice hockey) and the NBA finals to keep them interested at the moment, so I'm afraid it is quite far down their list.
We are just focused on the USA now. We know they will be physical, and they will want to make an impression in front of their own fans, which makes them a dangerous prospect.
