CRAZY weather caused chaos around the county yesterday as temperatures plummeted and torrential rain left many areas waterlogged.

As snow swept into areas of higher ground like Birdlip and Cirencester, low-lying roads had huge puddles of standing water to create misery for drivers.

A high water table due to the wettest summer for a hundred years and seasonal leaf fall has led to many drains getting blocked up, with no run-off for flood water.

Travel delays for rail passengers took hold due to flooding near Kemble as trains between Swindon and Gloucester were replaced by buses.

Manager of Leonard Stanley, Wayne Bown, said: "We've got a waterlogged pitch unfortunately. Everyone's disappointed but we'll keep going and get it rescheduled.
