"Fortunately no one was seriously injured in this accident," said a force spokeswoman.
"It looks as if surface water on the road may have been a contributing factor in the collision."

“Maybe not. It may have been drivers choosing what they thought was an appropriate speed for the weather conditions. If youre driving safely at about the same speed as everyone else what happens when you hit standing water depends on your type of car:- front or wheel drive, narrow or wide tyres, weight of vehicle, angle you hit it and any wave by preceeding vehicle perhaps in another lane.
The highways designers should be out there looking at drains, camber and surface to make sure next time it rains a patch of standing water doesnt form.
Otherwise we can rerun this then”

Looks like it was drivers going too fast for the weather conditions yet again relying on the safety of their cars/vans in an accident!”
