Man, 26, seriousy injured in Forest of Dean crash

A van and car collided on the Elton Road in the Forest of Dean last night leaving a man with potentially life threatening injuries.

The crash between a white Peugeot Partner van and red Volkswagen Golf happened close to The Greyhound Inn at around 10.35pm.

The fire service attended and cut a 26-year-old Cinderford man out of the Volkswagen. He was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital with leg injuries believed to be potentially life threatening.

The driver of the Peugeot van, a 24-year-old Cinderford man, suffered serious knee and ankle injuries not considered life threatening and was also taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

A passenger in the van, a 17-year-old Cheltenham girl, received cuts and bruises and was discharged from Gloucestershire Royal Hospital last night.

The road was closed until 5.50am today while a collision investigation took place.

Anyone who witnessed the collision but has not spoken to police should call the new non-emergency number 101, quoting incident 475 of February 14.
