POLICE have swooped on three homes in Gloucester, arresting one man after finding what is believed to be either a Class A drug or mephedrone in his attic.

Drugs raids were carried out in Norman Ball Way, Cecil Road and at the Docks, during Operation Abba yesterday at around 2pm.

The raids, involving 25 police officers split into three teams, were done simultaneously, acting on intelligence from the community which linked the three homes together.

During the raid on the Norman Ball Way house, a 32-year-old man from Gloucester was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply after officers found a pot containing white powder and around 30 bags filled with white powder in his attic.

Two bags of cash were also found in a lounge cabinet with around £400 in one and £500 in the other.

Gloved officers searched the entire property and the police dog was also brought in to aid the search.

Meanwhile, at a boat in the Docks a small quantity of a Class B drug, believed to be cannabis was found, but no arrests were made. And at the Cecil Road house no drugs were found and no arrests were made.

Sergeant Lee Solly, from Gloucestershire Police, said: "We were acting on information from the public which suggested we were looking for Class A and Class B drugs.

"We believed we were looking for cocaine, ecstasy and mephedrone, and that the three homes were linked."

One resident of Norman Ball Way, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "It's good to see the police doing their job.

"I don't know of any trouble there in that house, and it was a bit of a surprise to see the police van and the cars pull up, but they've got a job to do and it's good to see them doing it."
