Man in hospital after bull attack
A man has been airlifted to hospital after being attacked by a bull in the Forest of Dean.
The incident happened on farmland near Westbury-on-Severn at around 5pm yesterday.
The man, believed to be in his mid 50s, was airlifted to Frenchay Hospital with a suspected head injury after he was struck by the bull.
Great Western Ambulance Service (GWAS) received a 999 call about the incident shortly before 5pm. The caller said the patient was injured when the bull ran into him in a field.
A paramedic in a rapid-response vehicle was first on scene, backed up by an ambulance crew. The bull had been brought under control when they arrived, so they were able to start assessing and treating the man immediately.
However, he appeared to be suffering memory loss and had blood coming from his left ear.
The GWAS crews therefore requested air support and the Great Western Air Ambulance attended in order to transport the patient to Frenchay for more detailed examination and treatment.
