Noisy manhole covers a nuisance in Barton and Tredworth
LOOSE manhole covers in Barton and Tredworth "sound like a train" when cars drive over them – making life miserable for residents.
Noisy drain covers are blighting the lives of people living across the ward, with several complaints reported to councillors and Severn Trent Water in recent months.

The most noisy are reportedly in High Street, outside the Victory Hotel; in Knowles Road, near the High Street junction; in Upton Street, near St James School entrance, and in Midland Road, near the Brook Street corner.
Gloucester city councillor Saj Patel (C, Barton and Tredworth) said: "Loose manhole covers result in loud noises resembling the sound of trains on tracks every time a car drives over them. The noise is a nuisance day and night. The noise has been affecting people's sleep."

A spokesman for Severn Trent said: "Damage to manhole covers outside the Big Vic pub in High Street and Knowles Road were reported to us in August. We went out to investigate but didn't find any issues with either manhole cover. However, we will be re-visiting the area again.
"We haven't received any reports of damage to a manhole cover in Midland Road. However, we will carry out investigations as it has now been brought to our attention."
