AN OLD school battle at Kingsholm will turn the clock back to classic tours – and Fiji prop Deacon Manu cannot thank Gloucester enough.

Hailing the Cherry and Whites for hosting the midweek touring match, the Llanelli Scarlets front-rower said he is looking forward to locking horns with old boss Nigel Davies.

The 33-year-old said a heritage-rich club like Gloucester is the perfect place for a club-versus-country tour clash.

Anticipating a fiery contest at Kingsholm tonight (kick-off 7.45pm), Manu explained: "It's fantastic to be involved with an international side going on the road and playing a fixture against a top club side.

"I remember growing up and watching touring sides playing midweek games. Credit goes to Gloucester for being able to host us.

"We know how busy and congested the schedule is in the northern hemisphere.

"It's great to be able to play a side like Gloucester with all their heritage and they're going really well this season as well. It's going to be an amazing experience."

Backing old Scarlets team-mate Ben Morgan to blast back on the England front and prove his prowess on the world stage, Manu said he expects Gloucester to make a big impression on the Premiership this season.

He continued: "I spoke to Ben a couple of days ago and I'm really disappointed for him that he didn't make it into the England side.

"He's fit and raring to go and I know from experience that a fit Ben Morgan is world class.

"So, hopefully he won't be playing against us because he's one of the go-to guys at Gloucester!

"Nigel's done a fantastic job since he took over as director of rugby there and I'm sure Gloucester are going to be there or thereabouts at the end of the season."

“I'll be there. I know that some of the old moaners elsewhere are having a good whinge about ticket prices and team selection. They would moan even louder if there were injuries to key palyers which made themunavailable for important Premiership games or there was no money in the kitty to sign up new talent for next season.”
