Top medium Steve Holbrook mesmerised a sold out audience in Cheltenham

The clairaudient, regarded by many as the most gifted in the UK, enthralled 400 people at the Thistle Hotel, in Gloucester Road.

It was the 43-year-old’s first performance in the town for four years.

Mr Holbrook , whose celebrity friends include singer and "Loose Woman" Jane McDonald, said: “The anticipation of being back in Cheltenham after four years was unbelievable. It was a terrific night – the atmosphere was electric.”

“There were tears of joy and laughter and so many different characters. It was an emotional roller coaster.”

The night included messages from a 17-year-old who died on Christmas Eve and a grandmother with three dogs – a Jack Russell, a labrador and a West Highland Terrier.

Mr Holbrook performs across the UK 26 nights a year.

Sunday’s performance followed a successful tour of the US and the Caribbean.

He will perform at the hotel again on October 10.

Tickets, costing £15, will be available from the box office on 01242 271794.

    “Hilarious.

Pay to watch Derren Brown instead, and you'll see how this is done properly. He does much of the same techniques, but without the careless mental abuse and deceit.”

“Ah, the ancient art of Clairaudience, taken from the Greek ~ Clair - To rip-off, and ~ audience - a lot of people.
Is this who Clinton Baptiste in Phoenix Nights was based on? They look very similar.
"I'm getting the name, John - Is there a John in the room?"”
