Meet two of Gloucester's most outstanding citizens
TWO of Gloucester's brightest and best have been commended for their contribution to the city.
Last night Reyaz Limalia from Barton was named Citizen of Gloucester 2013 for almost a decade of tireless voluntary work.
He is chairman of GymNation, which runs thriving community projects GymNation, Friendship Cafe and St. James City Farm.
The humble 36-year-old said: "I feel really honoured but slightly embarrassed."

“Whilst you 'state the obvious' you make yourself sound daft by implying that the police were 'racist' to the 'poor innocent chap', we hear about these type of stories every other day now and 99.9% of them turn out to be fabricated fantasies.”

“Picking through your largely incomprehensible comments. What point were you making? - eyeopener"
Typical 'put-down' response, as expected - you can obviously see things that do not exist - how on earth is it "racist" to post a link and say, have a laugh at this?
"It is not wrong to complain if a poster writes in a racist manner. It is however wrong if a poster makes racist points, or makes comments based solely on anothers race." - "most people find making negative points based solely on ethnicity offensive." - 'eyeopener'
That's because you think it's "racist" to say, 'have a laugh at this' - but that is up to you - good luck on your 'racist, witch-hunt'.”

Picking through your largely incomprehensible comments. What point were you making?
We have certainly not discussed race in the same manner. Any one who picks through your posts to other articles cannot fail to notice that they are predominantly about denigrating, being derogatory about those of a different ethnicity, or having a 'laugh' as you charmingly put it.
It is not wrong to complain if a poster writes in a racist manner. It is however wrong if a poster makes racist points, or makes comments based solely on anothers race.
Far from having to be a ''self-appointed enlightend-one', most people find making negative points based solely on ethnicity offensive.”

You should be ashamed of yourself admitting that - but you are 'proud' of the fact - you're also a pathetic hypocrite, saying it's fine for YOU to mention "race" - it was 'quite fair' - ah, so it's okay when you do it.
As for the rest of your post, which is an insult and complete 'joke' for the best part - is not worth commenting on - as you, 'eyeopener', are obviously the 'self-appointed enlightend-one'.”

You said: Do you speak for everyone now - you seem to think you do?
I could not possibly be speaking for everyone otherwise you would be agreeing with me but others are as able as I to look back on your comments to this and other articles and draw their own conclusions.
I felt it was quite fair to bring race into the discussion seeing as the question lewipaul posed was only made about one and not both of those given awards.
I stand by what I said about your comments about the black middle class motorist stopped by the police simply because he was driving an Audi and your belief that it was a 'laugh'. I dont see how anyone who was stopped on such a basis would share your sense of humour.
You say that you wouldn't go running to TIG over what you were doing for the community, are you really doing anything for the community? Well Mr. Limalia didn't approach TIG he was simply given an award and as the Citizen made the award, naturally it knew all the details.
Unlike your worthy self who is apparently doing so much for the community, but keeping it secret, I would say that I have not done a fraction of what Mr. Limalia has done. That said, I wasn't unlike you questioning what he had done.”

“My original question might equally apply to you. "What are you doing that is so much more impressive than Mr. Limalia's contribution to the city?" - 'eyeopener'
I do just as much, if not more, than Mr Limalia but I do not 'go running' to TiG or vice-versa, for their satisfaction.”

Do you speak for everyone now - you seem to think you do? It was you who first mentioned race in this article, that's right, YOU - how dare anyone, not conforming to your 'train of thought' - what a pathetic example you also use, that's just your opinion.
"Is it any wonder you thought the denigation of Mr Limalia was trivial?"
Yet again you accuse, well, you can 'think' what I "thought" all you like. I am sure Mr Limalia is a hard working man for Barton but not the whole of Gloucester, get over it.”

You said "Oh get over it - now if they had saved it for April 1st..."
Anyone who has read your comments on not just this but many other stories cannot help but be struck on how the majority of them are either about those of different ethnicity, denigrating their food/customs or Gloucester neighbourhoods known to have significant diversity.
A good example of this is when you said "http://tinyurl.com/c5erzxr Unrelated but have a 'laugh' all the same..." the link is about a middle class blackman driving an Audi who has been stopped by a policeman because he is surprised that he could afford such a car. That is a 'laugh' ? I doubt that those unfairly stopped simply because of thier ethnicity will share your sense of humour.
Is it any wonder you thought the denigation of Mr Limalia was trivial?
My original question might equally apply to you. "What are you doing that is so much more impressive than Mr. Limalia's contribution to the city?”

You said "Does Mr Limalia get paid for any of these jobs that come under voluntary work or does he claim state benefits."
Please step forward to claim your 2013 Troll Of The Year Award.
Would you have asked that question if Mr Limalia had been white?
What are you doing that is so much more impressive than Mr. Limalia's contribution to the city?”
