Meet Jazmyne - the lifesaver
The quick-thinking actions of Jazmyne Loveridge have earned her a nomination in the Pride of Gloucestershire Awards.
The eight-year-old was dubbed her mum’s “little angel” after saving her life when she collapsed at home from a chronic asthma attack.

While her mum was gasping for air, Jazmyne stayed calm and dialled emergency services, talking them through her mum’s symptoms.
She directed the crew to their house in Warden Hill Road, Cheltenham, and within minutes an ambulance crew had arrived.
Jazmyne watched as Melissa went into cardiac arrest and paramedics “shocked” her heart to keep her alive.
Now Jazmyne has been put forward in the Brave Heart Hero category, sponsored by the Chelsea Building Society.
Family friends Owen Anstis and Jessica Pearce were so struck by her actions they put the youngster down for the award.
Jessica said: “When we heard what she had done we couldn’t believe how brave she had been.
“She’s only eight-years-old and I’m not sure most children that age could stay so calm and do what she did in a frightening situation.
“She thoroughly deserves to be recog- nised for her actions. Her mum might not be with us if it wasn’t for her.”
Jazmyne’s mum, Melissa, said: “I’m absolutely over the moon with this nomination. I’m so proud of her.
“She helped save my life and to be nominated for something like this is just brilliant.
“It’s really exciting and I know she will be absolutely over the moon herself.
“Everyone in the family knows what she did but it would be lovely if everyone else did too.”
Melissa, who uses inhalers on a daily basis, went into cardiac arrest again at Cheltenham General Hospital and was put into an induced coma by doctors.
She spent three days in intensive care and another four on the ward before finally being released.
The Gloucestershire Echo and its sister title, The Citizen, are responsible for the Pride of Gloucestershire Community Awards.
There are seven categories: Local Hero, Brave Heart Hero, Community Project, Caring Hero, Environmental Hero, Public Sector Hero, and for the first time Volunteer Hero.
The winners will be announced at an award ceremony at Gloucester Rugby, Kingsholm, on June 25.
