Meeting on making city safe at night
NIGHTSAFE partners will meet today to discuss a strategy to make Gloucester a safer pace to socialise at night.
Gloucester Police station will host the meeting among councillors, police, street pastors and business owners to discuss recent city developments.

Councillor Jenny Dallimore (C, Podsmead), pictured, Gloucester City Council's cabinet member for communities and neighbourhoods, is heading up the meeting.
"It is important these meetings instigate action and are not just a place for discussion," she said. "So much has happened in the weeks since the last meeting so there is a lot that needs to be considered. There has been great progress with improvements to CCTV and lighting, it will be a good opportunity for feedback. It is vital we have a strong partnership among those associated with the night-time economy."

“It's no use making Eastgate Street 'safe' for drunks. What about when it's time to go home? Then the drunks often can't afford a taxi, and are a hundred times more likely than a sober person to become the victim of a crime (as with the poor girl on Saturday night in Trier Way) or to commit a really stupid crime, such as damaging cars belonging to total strangers.”

I agree with every word you say but sadly we have a nation of retards who are forever being pandered too. Women/girls who wear silly shoes they can't walk in with bear feet are given flip flops by do gooders, drunkerds are given water so they don't dehydrate, they get lollipops to help them not get into fights etc, it is truly madness. Drug addicts are supported.

“The problem with groups such as nightsafe is the fact that they tend to talk alot with very little action. I would love to see the minutes from these meetings, lots of 'blue sky thinking' and 'brain storming' I suspect. Maybe some role-play, perhaps a bit of workshopping. It is the sort of thing you could easily write a TV mini-series about, along the lines of Yes Minister.
How much do they cost us? What is the tangible output?”

“Agenda item 1. Another reported rape in Central Gloucester - suspect still unidentified. How could this happen with such valuable "talking shops" such as Nighsafe in place to oversee the safety of the nightime economy.
I'd like to know what Nightsafe actually does apart from meet every so often to chat. How many members of this publicly funded brigade actually work on the streets to see things how they are ?”
