Metcalf goals help Pittville take step up in style
AS ONE of the newer clubs in the Cheltenham Football League, sponsored by Bristol Street Motors Ford Cheltenham, Pittville United are about to enter their fourth season in the League, writes Rob Morrison.
Paul Tibbles, one of the founder members of the club, managed the team for the first two years before taking over the key role of club secretary. Replacing Tibbles as manager was John Overton.

Having been handed the initiative, United went on to claim the title by four points from Dowty Dynamos. The teams efforts were helped in no small measure by Danny Metcalf who found the net 36 times. He was supported by defensive stalwart Matt New and midfield general and captain Stuart Innes.
As well as competing in Division Four for the first time, United have also entered a reserve team in the league this season as the club continues to grow. Both teams will play their home matches at Agg Gardners and the locality is reflected in the club badge which features a swan. Sponsored by the Robins Bar at Cheltenham Town, pride themselves on being a friendly team and are determined to maintain this as they grow and move up the league.
While it still the early stages of the season United appear to be taking the step up in division in their stride. Kicking off the season with a 3-1 victory at Southside Reserves, courtesy of strikes by Jamie Holleron, Innes and Joshua Mason they followed it up with 5-1 victory over Dowty Dynamos.
