GLOUCESTERSHIRE snooker player Robert Milkins has cruised through day two of the Grand Prix in Glasgow.

In today's all-English affair between Milkins and Ali Carter, Milkins ran out a comfortable 5-1 winner.

The Gloucestershire player set the tone in the opening frame, winning 105-0.

Although Carter levelled it at 1-1 after a second frame decided by fouls, Milkins was playing some fine snooker, aided by a some sloppy shots from Carter.

Having fallen 4-1 down, the world number five briefly showed signs of rallying in the sixth frame, making a break of 47, but another mistake sank the former world championship finalist.

Ding Junhui won the final three frames of his game to come back from 4-2 down and beat Welshman Matthew Stevens today.

Having seen Ding pull the game back to 4-3 with an excellent break of 105 in the seventh frame, Stevens still looked set for victory as he pulled out to a 31-3 lead.

But Ding fought back to level the match and went on to win the decisive ninth frame thanks in large part to a great shot to split the reds early on.

Earlier, Ding had made a series of mistakes to squander a 2-0 lead.

Stevens came off best in a tense fifth frame that was settled after a series of snookers and then grabbed the fourth after Ding missed a green under pressure.
