Morrisons reveal when new Cheltenham stores will open
SUPERMARKET giant Morrisons has revealed when two of its shops will open.
It is due to open a Morrisons M Local express store where Blockbuster used to be in Winchcombe Street, Cheltenham, at the end of this month.
And another Morrisons M Local is scheduled to open nearby early next year in the building previously known as the Fox and Hounds pub in Prestbury Road.
This follows the company opening one of its new express stores in Dyer Street, Cirencester, at the end of last month.

Each store will have about 20 staff, meaning Morrisons will have brought about 60 new jobs to the area once all three shops are open.
The 70,000 square foot Morrisons superstore planned as part of the £60 million redevelopment in North Place and Portland Street in Cheltenham town centre is expected to open in the middle of 2015.
Builders from Bristol-based Uplands Retail are two thirds of the way through transforming the Winchcombe Street site ahead of the grand opening on October 28.
Paul Birmingham, site manager for Uplands, said: “It’s a total internal refit. There will be a new shop front, we have repainted the outside, we have done all of the mechanical and electrical side, and all of the refrigeration units have been put in place.”
Simon Morgan, project manager for Uplands, said they would be starting the refurbishment of the Prestbury Road premises next week.
“There will be a lot more structural work involved there,” he said.
Some traders and councillors have said they fear the new Morrisons M Local stores in Cheltenham could force small independent shops nearby out of business.
The supermarket recently celebrated openings its 50th Morrisons M Local in the UK, creating a total of 1,000 jobs so far, and it plans to open another 50 of the express shops by the end of this year.
Ashley Rayment, the store manager at the new Morrisons M Local in Cirencester, said: ‘I’m thrilled to have got this role.
“Morrisons is a really dynamic and friendly company to work for and we already have a close-knit team of local people.
“There are fantastic opportunities for development and progression at Morrisons – we are all encouraged to do the best we can.”
“I would recommend that anyone interested in a career with M Local get in touch with their local store or visit the jobs website.”
