MUM-OF-11 Heather Frost, who is having a six-bedroom taxpayer-funded "mansion" built, says her current pad was only ever "temporary".

It also emerged yesterday that while living on benefits she splashed out on a horse last year.

She pays £200 in paddock fees, food and vets bills every month for the grey mare called Annie, which is kept a mile from her home.

The jobless Churchdown mum lives in two council houses knocked together, with her children, aged between two and 22.

But Heather said yesterday: "This house was only ever temporary accommodation until my new house is built."

Tewkesbury Borough Council sold land in Tewkesbury for a knock-down price of £210,000 to Severn Vale Housing, which is building the eco-friendly home.

Heather's move hit the headlines around the world after The Citizen's story on Monday.

A taxpayer group called the "custom-built mansion" a "scandal".

Responding to the national outcry, the 36-year-old said: "I'm keeping low from now on."

Her new 1,850 sq ft home will boast three bathrooms, a 355 sq ft kitchen and is being specially designed to cut her energy bills.

She forks out for two electricity and two gas bills at her home in Innsworth Lane, a situation she says is a "nightmare".

Council bosses admit the move has been planned for five years. She will move in during July.

Verna Green, director of community at the council, said: "We have a duty to provide suitable accommodation for people with a threat of homelessness.

"Back in 2007, Heather approached us to say that she couldn't stay at the private property where she was.

"We felt this was an innovative solution. The plan was always to build a house. It is a great opportunity to provide what she needs."

    "Dear 12347192

There is a safety net. It is called disability allowance or whatever the latest name for the £71 a week I have to live on is.'

right, so you live on peanuts and think that other people should do the same

but why instead not demand for a decent standard of living for yourself instead of bringing down others?”

“If this woman worked until she developed cancer as hilfromwilts states, she must have had an awful lot of time off to have these 11 children, and who looked after them while she was at work. As someone who lives in the area i can assure hilfromwilts the the truth is far from how he sees it, the neighbours call them the family from hell and when they move out they are having a street party, even her own father publicly called her lazy.”

    “Dear 12347192

There is a safety net. It is called disability allowance or whatever the latest name for the £71 a week I have to live on is.

I am grateful for every penny.

I have worked all my life and feel entitled to my safety net. I can just about manage. But there are certainly no treats - pets, horses, flying lessons.

I have cancer. I don't expect sympathy I just want my situation to be put into context.

The safety net is just that - a safety net. Not a lifestyle choice. I will be back at work as soon as possible - couldn't come a day too soon. I lost my job because I was Ill - I will have to find another one.

It's why I am so angry that the council is spending my money so frivolously. It has to stop.”

    "Dear HilfromWilts

    I have cancer.

    I have two young boys.'

Then surely you should fight for a better safety net for you and your children, for every child in the country, instead of trying to screw someone else over?

That's the problem with this country, we are not united enough and those in power take full advantage of it.”

    “Petition now at 637 signatures.

This is not a personal attack against Heather Frost. Rather concern from tax payers about the way the council is spending its money.

Regardless of my personal thoughts about Heathers behaviour, the council are ultimately at fault for creating this situation in the first place.”

    “Dear HilfromWilts

    I have cancer.

    I have two young boys.

I lost my job because I am too ill to work.

I have worked all my life.

I have been denied certain benefits because I worked last year.

I am grateful for the benefits I get. If I lived in the USA or India etc i would get nothing.

But there are only so many pennies in the pot. We (the UK) cannot afford to provide houses for families who are not entitled to them. Heathers partner works. At least 4 of her "children" are over the age if 16 and therefore if not in education, are able to work and do not need to live at home. If you remove them from the situation she doesn't need an extra large home.

Plenty of young couples can't live together because they can't afford to. Plenty of young people have to leave home and fend for themselves. Why does Heather think she deserves something special?

I don't have a house provided by the council. I certainly don't have money for extras and treats - flying lessons, horses etc etc.

The petition speaks for itself over 500 signatures and growing by the hour.

    “What I think -
there are some cruel, cold hearted, ignorant people around. AngryWoman, you should be ashamed of yourself.
I do not know Heather Frost but I am not that stupid to believe what has been reported and twisted in the press to be true.
Heather Frost used to work, but became ill with cancer? The council SOLD the land to a building developer (why so cheap - ask the council!) on usual condition that affordable housing are built including a 6 bed allocated to Mrs Frost. what's wrong with that? As her children fly the nest, she will have to move to a smaller property and another large family will be housed. The council want to house two families in the two properties she is currently occupying.
Why oh why would anyone start a petition to harrass a woman and her innocent children? Why did that nasty, spiteful woman contact the newspapers?
Ahem! jobs. what jobs, and where?? Joke.
Lets hope one day none of you have the misfortune to lose your jobs, become ill or have a disabled child! Then you would know how HARD it is to get any welfare benefit at all.
If you have terminal cancer but are lucky enough to have more than 6 months to live, you will no longer be classed as 'terminal' according to DWP and will have to work for NOTHING stacking shelves in Tescos - woops, I mean earning your meagre benefit, while TESCOS gets something for NOTHING.
Now THAT should be worth getting riled about............”

“i like most people work hard to earn a living, things are getting more expensive week by week now, then you see this woman and her clan in the papers and on the television and i think it has got to just make you sick,11 children, sorry but that just isnt normal,im sure family allowance and benifits were a lot more attractive than working for a living like most people do,those with children i may add,its a **** take that you can have 11 children but you cannot afford to provide for them yourself, but you can buy a horse, buy flying lessons for your partner, who i guess is also on benifits, and buy a parrott,as much as people say ah the poor woman i dont see her or her children wanting to hide away from the cameras or newspapers, must have been the jeremy kyle show that gave you confidence,it does my head in mine and other hard working peoples taxes are going to keep this woman and her tribe.i wonder what morals your teaching your children, dont work just scrounge off the state,i dont think you understand just how much your loathed, the sooner you move the better”
