Mum's horror as youths in cellar abuse case 'laugh and joke' in court
A DISTRAUGHT mum whose son was horrifically abused by two youths in a cellar could not contain her emotions when the pair appeared at Gloucester Crown Court yesterday.
Seeing the youths, aged 16 and 17, laughing and joking in the dock before the judge entered court the tearful mum shouted: ‘It’s not funny – you’re sick’.
Both youths have admitted sexually assaulting the teenaged victim while subjecting him to ‘humiliating degradation’ in a Gloucester cellar.
The court has heard the victim had cement dust poured in his eyes.
Both youths were due to be sentenced by Judge William Hart yesterday – but he decided he could not go ahead because one of the youths is also awaiting sentence for robbery in Aylesbury.
The judge said he would like to have the Aylesbury case transferred to Gloucester so he can sentence the youth for it at the same time.
At the start of yesterday’s hearings the two defendants were brought into the dock and sat beside each other talking and laughing for several minutes before the judge entered.
The victim’s mother was sitting in the courtroom and suddenly shouted out: “It’s not funny – OK, it’s not funny?“
One of the youths replied “Who are you speaking to?“
She said “It’s not funny – you’re sick.”
