YOUNG apprentices at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital have had their success marked with a regional award.

The NHS Apprenticeship Awards were set up three years ago by the South West Strategic Health Authority, Skills for Health and the National Apprenticeship Service.

More than 200 nominations were made by employers and apprentices within the health sector, with Bridget Campbell and Wendy Collins commended for their work in Gloucestershire.

Bridget, who has completed her apprenticeship in Team Leading at Level 2, said: "I have embraced the opportunities that the apprenticeship has presented and it has given me confidence to apply for the deputy catering manager's post which I have recently been appointed to."

Learning and skills development manager Wendy Collins won the mentor buddy champion award for her role in promoting and supporting apprenticeship at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Head of lifelong learning at Gloucestershire Hospitals, Lucy Blandford nominated both.

"Wendy and Bridget have been successful in gaining awards and are an inspiration to others and the other members of the team," she said.
