NHS submission deadline
ORGANISATIONS wanting to run community health services in the county have until today to step forward.
NHS Gloucestershire has asked groups, including private bodies, NHS organisations or those wishing to set up a social enterprise, to show an "expression of interest" in taking the reins of some health services. This includes nine community hospitals, district nursing and 3,000 staff. The deadline is today.

“I can't help but feel it is wrong for Tesco to allegedly put in a bid to run our community health service the on the back of their sucessful opthalmic service. Even the offer of double club card points on physiotherapy and a buy one get one free on surgical appliances do not tempt me. However, I feel that the eventual winner will be private equity firm Hawthorn and Graham Holdings who will pass the fairness and value for money criteria. Good luck to them on their alledged offer.”
