Waste experts pulled on their rugby boots to help raise cash for the National Star College.

Smiths (Gloucester) Ltd held a charity rugby match between a Smiths XV and a select Dursley XV.

The match, which was a part of Smiths celebration of their 30th anniversary in business, was held at Dursley's Stinchcombe ground.

Smiths organised the game to raise money for its chosen charity, the National Star College at Ullenwood.

It was played in a fine spirit with many of the players who turned out for Smiths having played for Dursley teams and the company team in seasons past.

However, eventually the youth and organisation of the Dursley side told, and they emerged as worthy victors.

The teams enjoyed the after-match food and drink laid on, before settling down to watch England play Fiji in the Autumn international series.

More than £750 was raised for the National Star College.
