New Pope elected
A new Pope has been elected by cardinals at the Vatican after white smoke emerged from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel this evening
The name of the chosen candidate has not yet been announced, but they are expected to appear on the balcony overlooking St Peter's Square at 7pm GMT.

The newly-elected Pope will take over from Pope Benedict XVI who resigned in February
The election came after a second day of deliberations in Rome by 115 cardinals.
The newly-elected Pope will be the 266th to take the role.
