A NEW operations manager will help the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway (GWSR) develop in the future.

Neil Carr, who has been operations director on a voluntary basis, has been appointed as its new full-time operations manager to oversee its daily work.

He will manage and control proceedings on the railway, and advise the board on the future plans to develop the railway.

The former engineer said he has been passionate about railways since he was nine.

Ian Crowder, public relations officer at GWSR, said Neil was the best choice.

He said: "It's a really big role, with the railway expanding.

"We've had a lot of challenges recently, and he had been on a contractual basis for a while.

"He was the obvious choice, being looked up to at the railway and is the ideal person for the job."
