Could Jumpin' Jaks nightclub return to Gloucester?
CLUBBERS could be dancing with delight after it was revealed former city nightspots could soon reopen.
The previous homes of Jumpin' Jaks and Minx gentleman's club in Gloucester could be ripe for investment now that strict rules on opening hours have been lifted.
James Bunn, property manager for Morston Assets, which owns Jumpin' Jaks in Brunswick Road, previously said they were finding it difficult to develop the site as they were unable to market it as a nightspot.
Its former owners Luminar, which runs Liquid nightclub in Eastgate Street, had placed a restriction on the property use when they sold Jumpin' Jaks in 2006.

However, Luminar went into administration last year and it is understood the covenant no longer applies.
The same rules apply to KCs, which later became Envy nightclub.
Fresh hopes have been raised that investors will now take on the venues.
City councillor Tarren Randle (C, Barnwood), the city council's night-time economy champion, said: "There is now no reason why we can't push to get those two units filled again.
"From my point of view, opening another nightclub in the city, or a comedy club perhaps, will be fantastic for the night-time economy. There has been interest in both clubs in the past, but we haven't been able to do anything due to the covenant.
"It would be a huge boost for the city to get those re-opened."
The fate of the former Crackers venue, in Bruton Way, which closed in 2009, lies in the hands of the King's Quarter developers Stanhope. It is thought a new nightclub will form part of the plan.
Clubber Darren Sturch, 28, from Coney Hill, said: "Generally it is really good news, and should bring more people to the city. But we need lots more bars and clubs."
A survey will ask people over 30 what they want.
Minx, in Lower Quay Street, reopened in July this year and is open Wednesdays to Saturdays 10pm till late.

“To be honest I couldn't see Kc's re-opening as a nightclub. Towards the end of its life as Envy / Lansons the running costs were higher than the actual incoming revenue which led to the new owners of Luminar closing the venue (as well as dozens of other Envy clubs all over the UK) it would probably generate revenue as a comedy and live band venue or even (and dare I say it) another whetherspoons pub. Jumpin Jaks however is a different story. Luminar sold the Jumpin Jaks chain off to another company (who have since gone bankrupt) & Gloucester was one of its smaller venues. However Jumpin Jaks clubs do still operate with another leisure chain who operate 10 Jumpin jaks venues, So Jumpin Jaks returning to the city is possible, but the old venue would need a complete renovation or even demolition.”

“Glos_Lad 34 An owner can use the building for whatever you can get a planning permission for. YOU could indeed if YOU were to buy it or secure a lease from the current owner on acceptable terms, get finance, get planning, and get an indoor market business set up there. Whether that is a viable business operation from that site is something YOU as a business would have to decide and prove to the funders and the planners to get going and then the traders to trade from there and punters to shop there.
The point is that development costs a fortune and requires people to do something positive about it, and is an opportunity to us all.”
