First Ofsted report in five years for Heron School
OUTSTANDING pupil behaviour was the highlight of the latest Ofsted report on Heron Primary School in Abbeydale.
The school was rated as good overall by inspectors who paid a visit to test out Heron's performance this month.
The results have delighted the community, with many saying the school's success will provide a bedrock for the future.
With just two day's notice, inspectors observed 29 lessons taught by 15 teachers and made several additional visits to classes.

Year 4 pupils had their key skills assessed while children in the year above were tested on their independent writing and reading aloud.
The help available for disabled pupils and children with special educational needs was also monitored during the inspection.
Further analysis of questionnaires handed to staff, pupils and 130 parents helped complete the survey, with the results delighting head teacher John Coles.
"The current Ofsted framework introduced in January this year is more rigorous than ever," he said.
"So getting an overall effectiveness grade of good can be seen as a very good achievement by all of the staff and pupils at the school.
"In the report, it was clear that Ofsted fully understands the reasons why the pupils, parents and carers at the school value it so highly.
"The school has made real progress since its last inspection in 2007, particularly in reading, writing and maths.
"The report is one that the whole school is proud of."
The school's overall effectiveness, pupil's achievement, quality of teaching, leadership and management were all graded as good.
An outstanding rating was awarded to the school for the behaviour and safety of its pupils.
Abbey city councillor Andrew Gravells said: "This is a really excellent report .
"It is so good to have such positive feedback on this popular school.
"I'd like to thank and congratulate everyone connected with the school, not least the children for behaving so well, and making the most of their time at this successful Abbeydale school."
