THE warmer temperatures of recent days will be a thing of the past next week as the mercury plummets to an icy -3C (27F).

The Met Office has predicted a mild but wet weekend before temperatures drop rapidly.

Today is expected to be fairly warm with temperatures reaching 11C (52F) in the day and 7C (45F) overnight.

There will also be light rain throughout the day.

The rain will continue through into tomorrow, making for another wet day and it will start to get colder too.

Temperatures are expected to peak at 7C (45F), while overnight it could be as cold as 3C (37F).

On Sunday, daytime temperatures will fall to 5C (41F) while overnight it could get as cold as -2C (28F).

Then on Monday the icy conditions of winter return once again with the Met Office predicting maximum temperatures of 3C (37F), while it could dip to as low as -3C (27F).
