Oldham puts chat with pal Leon on hold
FOR once Cheltenham Saracens boss Gerry Oldham will not be able to compare notes on an opposition side with Slimbridge manager Leon Sterling as the two go head to head at Petersfield Park on Boxing Day (3pm).
They chat regularly on the phone, offering advice and exchanging scouting reports on teams across the Hellenic League Premier Division, but there has been no conversation in the build-up to this local derby.
"I think Leon Sterling is the best manager Slimbridge have ever had and they are going well," Oldham said.
"I know him from our playing days and we get on well and he's a good lad.

"We have regular chats to give each other the run down on teams which is very useful, but obviously I haven't spoken to him this week."
Slimbridge have the best defensive record in the Premier Division, with 17 goals conceded in 18 games.
Saracens have let in 38, but they have scored seven more goals than the Swans.
Oldham said: "They are much more defensive than us, so it will be an interesting game as we always look capable of scoring, but we've been letting plenty in too."
