Olympic choreographer in red carpet do
DANCES created by Olympic opening ceremony choreographer Akram Khan will be performed on the Parabola Arts Centre stage tonight.
Aakash Odedra's Rising is a contemporary dance show that draws on Indian influences.
They were created by Khan, who choreographed a dance piece to the hymn Abide With Me which formed part of the stunning ceremony this summer. Christina Poulton, from the arts centre, said: "The Olympic opening ceremony was a wonderful spectacle and we are delighted to offer people the chance to see work by one of its choreographers.
"The show will be an exciting mix of dance styles and also includes video projection and stunning lighting design. It's been referred to as 'the dance equivalent of a red carpet event', because the choreographers – Russel Maliphant, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Akram Khan – have all worked with top dance companies and venues including Sadler's Wells and the Southbank Centre."
