Spectre search: Landlady Cathy Richards of The Plough in Prestbury has called in a team of paranormal experts to the venue
The group from the Southern Paranormal Society are heading for an overnight stay at The Plough in February after punters and the landlady both reported seeing a dramatic figure looming.
Cathy Richards said for years customers had seen light bulbs smashing, and objects moving, both to no apparent reasons. For a while, two pence pieces flew out of the till.

"It drives us all mad," she said. "It happens when I'm trying to stock the fridge and bottles, edge their way out, often smashing." She added that many customers had, until recently, thought the ghost was female.
However, in August 2011, she said the ghost revealed itself a little more to a customer who was sat on a sofa.
And shortly afterwards, Cathy had a spooky encounter of her own.
"I was closing up in the lounge and all the lights were off, when I looked over and saw a short man dressed in a grey suit with rounded lapels, stood leaning on the bar," she said.
"I screamed and ran outside but, of course, by the time I came back to show everyone, he had gone."
The encounter was enough for Cathy to be convinced for a ghostly presence, and the news has now sparked the interest of professional ghost hunters.
They are in the process of planning an overnight stay at The Plough, with professional recording equipment, in the hope that they might be able to capture the mystery apparition on camera.
Prestbury is renowned as one of the most haunted places in Britain.
The Black Abbot, a monk who roams the graveyard at Christmastime, Easter and at Halloween is perhaps its most famous ghost but there are thought to be more than 12 spirits who haunt the streets and buildings.
There is also reportedly a Cavalier soldier from the English Civil Wars, and a white-haired gentleman.
The Plough is a 17th-century listed building. It was believed to have been built around 20 years before the civil war.
Sudeley Castle was a headquarters of King Charles I, but Gloucester was strongly Parliamentarian.
Troops were based at the village.

“I have an E-Pad that's given up the ghost.
Maybe it could be left on the bar top overnight with a note giving TiG's address.
Mention that it has a built in camera and TiG will pay for every picture...Lol.”
