Parents of stillborn babies to be helped by summer Bond
GUESTS will don their tuxedos and satin for a huge summer ball fundraiser to support parents of stillborn babies.
Gloucestershire Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, is hoping its second evening event, with a James Bond theme, will raise thousands to keep up its vital work.
Football fans will be delighted with one of the raffle prizes up for grabs – an England shirt signed by David Beckham.
Michelle Dimery from the charity, who also works as a midwife, said the money raised paid for memory boxes to be given out at the hospitals in Cheltenham and Gloucester – these help parents come to terms with the death of a baby.
The charity is also hoping to create a bereavement suite at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and is working with Cheltenham Cemetery in Prestbury to make a children's memorial area.
Michelle, who works at the St Paul's maternity wing, said: "This is our biggest fundraiser. Last year we raised around £3,000."
The ball is on June 25 at Hatherley Manor Hotel in Gloucester from 7.30pm. For a ticket, call Michelle on 07818 461845 or the hotel on 01452 730217.
