CAMPAIGNERS hoping to reduce the cost of parking in Tewkesbury's car parks will hold talks with the borough council next week.

Bosses from the borough have agreed to meet those calling for a 50 per cent reduction in the public car park fees in Tewkesbury.

A petition on the matter was signed by 6,000 people last year.

“I wouldn't hold my breath on this one folks. TBC needs every penny it can get from the parking as the money from selling off the council houses can't keep the council tax artificially low due to the current interest rate freeze. The parking is its' cash cow and it keeps council tax down for residents in Brockworth, Churchdown, Bishops Cleeve, Winchcombe etc. The fact that Tewkesbury shoppers pay the price doesn't bother the majority of councillors as they're all right Jack!”
